It has now been a week since our August 2009 course completed.
I think the course turned out great. Thank you everyone for your sacrifice and hard work. I saw a number of the candidates tonight at combined stake dance and felt that for the most part they enjoyed the experience in one way or another.
I hope you all continue to do well in all you do.
Thanks,
Jeff Foster

July Work Up Heads Up
Thank you everyone for making the June work-ups a success. We still have a lot to do, but with hard work and the Lord's help, we'll get there.
Don't forget the Work-ups in July. This is the home stretch so everyone should work extra hard to have their lessons ready and activities planned.
The July 10-11th work-up we will be at camp Tifie (the course site near Mount Pleasant).
The council and the land donor will be dedicating the main entrance at 5pm July 10th, so we want to avoid arriving between 5:30 and 6:30 pm. When we get to camp Tifie, we should go south on the road on the west side of the Scout ranch. It will lead us to the south west corner of the property but close to the entrance of the future Cub Scout area which is where our base camp will be.
See you there.

June 19-20 Work-up
Don't forget that we have another work-up in a couple of weeks. This one will be June 19-20 at Blake's home in Herriman. Scott will be sending a reminder and map soon.
The following are some objectives for that work-up:
1. Plan for and practice the events each field of emphasis will be responsible for on-course.
2. Have a campfire program.
3. Demonstrate a proper Gilwell.
4. Demonstrate well prepared lessons.
5. Let the youth and adults practice lessons with any remaining time.
Hope you all can make it. I will not be there due to a family conflict. Others will fill-in and I am sure it will be a great success.
I think you all are doing a great job preparing and we hope to have the greatest All-Stars possible.
Keep up the great work.

Course Logistics and Adjustments
Here is a report on the Encampment Coordination meeting this morning.
Since we know that the participants for our course are almost all from the Lehi area, the course coordinators are providing a truck to haul gear. This is a 53’ tractor trailer.
The truck’s primary purpose is to carry course gear from Camp Maple Dell to Mountain Dell. Our quartermasters will need to coordinate helping load the Maple Dell equipment on Friday afternoon August 6th.
There will also be considerable space for participant gear in the truck. So, our participants should bring and load their gear on Saturday from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Lehi West Stake center. There will be orange tags and sharpies to label participant gear. We have 116 pre-registered participants as of today. Transportation to the course is the responsibility of each ward or participant. Our designated time for participants to load the truck for the return trip is 11:00 am on Saturday August 15th. Again tags will be provided.
Since there are three other courses on the mountain with us, we needed to work out some conflicts. For example, our plan was to have the Rendezvous on Friday afternoon. We can’t have access to the rifle or archery range on Friday. So we will need to move the Rendezvous to Thursday instead.
The other challenge is that many of the participants transportation is provided by participants in the Wood Badge course. The Wood Badge course doesn’t end until 2:00 pm on Saturday. Consequently, we’ll need to have something constructive for our participants to do until 2:00 pm on Saturday.
The council will provide porta-potties for our base camp as well as some portable showers. We should probably plan on building some additional portable showers as well.
They have also designated where they want us to put the mud-pit. They are planning to build a lake in the future and our tug of war and mud pit will need to be at the future lake site. If you type the following coordinates into Google Earth you will be taken right to where I believe this will be: 39° 29’ 55.73” N 111° 23' 09.44” W.
There are trash dumpsters about two miles west of the course on the road. It is suggested that we take a garbage run daily. Quartermasters and service squads will need to help with this.

Course Song Lyrics
THE GREATEST ADVENTURE
The Greatest Adventure is what lies ahead,
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said.
The choices, the changes are all yours to make,
The mold of your life is in your hands to shape.
The greatest adventure is here if you’re bold,
The skills are at hand for you to take hold.
To learn all their meanings you must not delay,
To share them with others, for that is our way.
The one who's a dreamer and never believes,
Who watches the world, won't roll up his sleeves.
Will never know pleasure, will never know pain,
The joys of success are all ours to gain.
The Greatest Adventure is what lies ahead,
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said.
The choices, the changes are all yours to make,
The mold of your life is in your hands to shape.
The greatest adventure ... is .. what ... lies ahead.
The Greatest Adventure is what lies ahead,
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said.
The choices, the changes are all yours to make,
The mold of your life is in your hands to shape.
The greatest adventure is here if you’re bold,
The skills are at hand for you to take hold.

The Greatest Adventure is what lies ahead,
